The beautiful scenery of Oregon and the water flowing gracefully down Grande Ronde River make the trip here worthwhile. The put-in is not too far from La Grande, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in     this general area you won't find many other paddling rivers. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are less forgiving. Now this is a pretty long section, so make sure you pack enough food along with your camping gear. Briefly about the general area: Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Grande Ronde River with overnight lows in the 50's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 30's, and night lows in the 20's for Grande Ronde River. At Grande Ronde River you don’t see much rain; the month of   January is the wettest with most of the snow, and July meanwhile is the driest month.
