The nature scenery of Oregon and the water flowing gracefully down Grande Ronde River are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. This stretch of Grande Ronde River is 19.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III section. The campgrounds here at Grande Ronde River are pretty good. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you won't find a large number of other spots. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations
in advance you're all set. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so pack your camp stove. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more.
Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so better not forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. Whitewater paddling here in the Blue Mountains is a great experience.
