If you're coming from Grants Pass it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The beautiful scenery of Oregon and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's good length for a morning trip. When you're paddling down a Coast Ranges river like this one you always get great scenery along the way
too. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national
average, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. This stretch of Grave Creek in Oregon is 6 miles long and is a class III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with not too many other rivers for that. Grave Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Six Miles to confluence With Rogue River stretch is the only one. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots
of people.
Briefly about the general area: At Grave Creek throughout the summertime highs are in the 80's; the nighttime is rather chillier of course, ordinarily in the 50's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 40's while the cold winter nights at
Grave Creek are in the 30's. The yearly rain here at Grave Creek is about average; most of the rain falls throughout December, and the driest of the months is July. Going for a hike on the Coffee Pot Trail is always a fine adventure.
