Josephine
county,
Six Miles to confluence With Rogue River section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS III 6 miles
The nature scenery of Josephine County and the water flowing gracefully down Grave Creek are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Oregon are harder than the national norm, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. The wild scenery of the Coast Ranges is great. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you won't find many other paddling places. This is the only paddling section along
Grave Creek. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Grants Pass, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. This section is long enough to enjoy a good
non stop paddle, suitable for an afternoon trip. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This section of Grave Creek in Oregon is 6 miles long and it is classified as a class III section by American Whitewater. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp.
Briefly about the general area: Summer at Grave Creek arrives with high temperatures in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures sink down
into the 50's. During the wintertime this place gets highs in the 40's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Grave Creek temperatures drop to the 30's. From a rainfall point of view Grave Creek is a rather common spot; the wettest month of the year is typically December,
