This section of Hills Creek in Lane County is 6 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV section. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Oregon are
often more challenging than in other states, so don't forget that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. Hills Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the 6 mi above Reservoir section is the only one. The river winds through the Central Cascade Range and you get great
scenery. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The wonderful Oregon scenery and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile.
Briefly about the general area: Why not take a refreshing hike along the Gobel Creek Trail, and do take a hike on the Kitson Ridge Trail. Having a splendid time in the Central Cascade Range is easy. For the period of the summertime at Hills Creek highs are typically in the 80's. During the dark
hours of summer temperatures sink down into the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 30's to Hills Creek. Hills Creek sees pretty high levels of rainfall; November is the wettest month with most rain, and July on the other hand is the driest.
