The 6 mi above Reservoir section of Hills Creek is 6 miles long and has been rated as a class IV section by American Whitewater. The scenic beauty of Oregon and the cool fresh water beats anything. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Oregon are harder than the national norm, so keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. This stretch is mid length, good for a one day paddling trip. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. Whitewater paddling here in the Central Cascade Range is a great experience.
Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. Hills Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the 6 mi above Reservoir section is the only one. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll
have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground.
Briefly about the general area: Hills Creek mostly gets a large amount of rain; of all the months in a year November is the one with the most rain while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Hills Creek; Gobel Creek Trail is a wonderful local trail, and the Kitson Ridge Trail offers hiking at its best. High temperatures at Hills Creek
throughout the summer months are in the 80's while nighttime lows are ordinarily in the 50's. For the period of the wintertime highs are regularly in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Hills Creek are in the 30's. Be careful coming to the Central Cascade Range, you might not ever want to return home again.
