If you're coming from Hood River it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. The wonderful Hood River County scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great. This is a pretty decent length section, it's good length for a morning trip. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. No shortage of good hotels, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The beautiful Central Cascade Range
scenery is an added bonus. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good rivers for that around here. This section of Hood River in Oregon is 5 miles long and is a class III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. This is not the only paddling
section in this river system, there are others too. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Oregon are often more challenging than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable.
