The 3 miles above West Fork to Confluence with West Fork stretch of Hood River - Lake Branch is 3 miles long and is a class IV-V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The scenic beauty of Oregon and the playfulness of the water attract people from near and far. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some
time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. This is a somewhat short section so better bring some good walking shoes. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Hood River, as you can see on the road map
further down. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of places for that. When you're paddling down a Central Cascade Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well.
