CLASS III 11 miles
The wonderful Lane County scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. This stretch of Horse Creek is 11 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III section. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this
area has a large number of paddling places. There are no other sections to paddle along Horse Creek than the above Separation Creek to McKenzie River section. The wild scenery of the Central Cascade Range is great. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your
time, so pack your camp stove. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Oregon are often tougher than in other states, so keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby.
Briefly about the general area: While you're here at Horse Creek you can take a hike along the Saddle Trail, and the beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Foley Hot Springs. Yeah, come up here to the Central Cascade Range for a magnificent time. On a perfect day at Horse Creek
you can take a hike along the Frissell Point Trail. Horse Creek is a reasonably wet place generally with lots of rain; December is when you get the most rain here while July is typically the driest month. High temperatures at Horse Creek through the summertime are in the 80's,
and through the night it cools down to the 40's. All through the wintertime highs are generally in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Horse Creek.
