The average Oregon whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so better not forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Miami Bar to Oak Flat section is one of them. The Coast Ranges scenery is wonderful. Briefly about the general area: Be careful coming to the Coast Ranges, you might not ever wanna return back home again. There is a delightful hiking trail near Illinois River called the Illinois River Trail. All the water falling down from the sky makes Illinois River a wet place;   December is the month that gets the most rain while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Going for a hike on the Bear Camp Trail is always a wonderful adventure; close by you hit upon pleasant places like Deadman Bar. Through the long summer days, highs usually are in the 70's at Illinois River, and throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Highs during the wintertime are regularly in the 50's, and nighttime lows during the winter for Illinois River tend to be in the 30's.
