  If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Oregon you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so you'd better keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. This stretch of Imnaha River is -blank- miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III-IV section. The put-in is not too far from Lewiston, as you can see on the road map further down. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. This is the only paddling section along Imnaha River. Getting some good exercise and
    spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. The natural beauty of Wallowa County and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come
because it is a very popular destination.

Briefly about the general area:
The surroundings of this river have so much to offer. Not much rain falls here at Imnaha River; the month of May is the wettest with most of the rain while July is ordinarily the driest month.
High temperatures at Imnaha River throughout the warm days of summer are in the 80's, and the night is slightly colder of course, mostly in the 50's. For the duration of the winter highs are in the 30's, and night lows in the 20's for Imnaha River. A tour to Imnaha River wouldn't
 
be complete without taking a look at Imnaha Rapids, and close by you locate China Gulch which is a great place to take a look at. A short spree to Imnaha Rapids is always worthwhile, and you can have a delightful hiking adventure along the Cook Creek Trail.
