Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. The wonderful Oregon scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water attract people from near and far. Whitewater paddling here in the Southern Cascade Range is a great experience. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Cover Camp to FS 31 section is one of them. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. This section of Jackson Creek in Oregon is 8 miles long and it is classified as a class III-IV section by American Whitewater. You can pitch
a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, suitable for an afternoon trip. The starting point is not too far from Medford, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good places for that around here.
Briefly about the general area: Don't leave Jackson Creek without first going for a hike along the Freezeout Trail; splendid hiking is available along the Billick Burn Trail. During
the summertime months at Jackson Creek highs are mostly in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures dip down into the 40's. During the winter the highs are ordinarily in the 40's; overnight lows in the 30's for Jackson Creek. Jackson Creek sees pretty high levels of precipitation;
most of the rain falls all through November, and July is when it's the driest. That right there is lots of amusing things already but it goes on, the Southern Cascade Range has it all.
