Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. The scenic beauty of Douglas County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The Southern Cascade Range scenery is wonderful. The NF300 to Cover Camp section of Jackson Creek in Douglas County is 8 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class IV(V) section. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in
this river system, there are a few others too. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem
but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near.
Briefly about the general area: Throughout the months of summer, highs regularly are in the 80's at Jackson Creek. Summer nighttime lows drop down to the 40's. Through the winter highs are usually in the 40's while Jackson
Creek overnight low temperatures all through the wintertime are in the 30's. Near Jackson Creek you come across the North and South Trail which is a wonderful hiking trail; a cool spot to stop by is Cow Horn Arch. All year is a great time in the Southern Cascade Range if you
like the outdoors. The Acker Divide Trail is a good hiking trail in close proximity to Jackson Creek. The high level of rain makes Jackson Creek a quite wet place; the month with most of the rain is November while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
