  If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so better not forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. This stretch of John Day River - North Fork in Grant County is 44 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II section. The river winds through the Blue Mountains and you get great scenery. A stretch of this length does require some preparations, perfect for a real wilderness adventure. The beautiful scenery of Grant County and the beautiful way the
    water current moves down the stream will make you feel great. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. There
are no other stretches to paddle along John Day River - North Fork than the Dale to Monument stretch. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground.

Briefly about the general area:
At John Day River - North Fork through the days of summer highs are in the 80's, and the nighttime is slightly cooler of course, typically in the 50's. Highs all through the wintertime are usually in the 40's, and nighttime lows during the winter for John Day River - North Fork tend to be in the 20's. John Day River - North Fork gets very little rain;
 
the month with most of the rain is November, and the driest of the months is July.
