The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are less forgiving. The 2.5 miles above Blue River to Blue River section is the only paddling section along Lookout Creek. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some     kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling places. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This section is quite short so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. Whitewater paddling here in the Central Cascade Range is a great experience. The beautiful scenery of Oregon and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water beats anything. Briefly about the general area: Lookout Creek is a relatively wet place usually with a good deal of rainfall; the wettest month of the year is generally November, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest of the months   is July. Summertime brings highs in the 70's to Lookout Creek, and during the night it cools down to the 40's. For the period of the wintertime highs are frequently in the 40's while Lookout Creek overnight low temperatures all through the winter are in the 30's.
