The Gooch Falls stretch of Marion Creek in Linn County is 7 miles long and it is classified as a class IV(V) section by American Whitewater. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so better not forget that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The beauty of the Central Cascade Range is a great plus for this river. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better
reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good rivers for that around here. The beautiful scenery of Linn County and the cool fresh water attract people from
near and far. This is the only paddling stretch along Marion Creek. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. On this section you do get some distance, good for a one day paddling trip.
Briefly about the general area: Gooch Falls is a good local attraction, and do take a hike on the Pine Ridge Trail. And that's not all the things to do here in the Central Cascade Range. Have a tremendous hiking adventure along the Bingham Ridge Trail. At Marion Creek throughout the days of summer highs are
in the 70's with night lows in the 50's. Through the winter highs are in the 40's, and nighttime lows at Marion Creek through the winter ordinarily dip into the 30's. Marion Creek sees pretty high levels of precipitation; during December this area sees the most rain, and the driest month of the year is July.
