Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Oregon is often tougher than elsewhere, so better not forget that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. The nature scenery of Linn County and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good rivers for that around here. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, suitable for an afternoon trip. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to
get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Marion Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Gooch Falls stretch is the only one. The Gooch Falls stretch of Marion Creek is 7 miles long and is a class IV(V) section of whitewater
according to American Whitewater. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. The beautiful Central Cascade Range scenery is an added bonus.
Briefly about the general area: For the period of the long summer days at Marion Creek highs are usually in the 70's. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 50's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 40's, and after the sun is down all through the winter temperatures at Marion Creek drop into the 30's. The beauty of
mother nature reveals herself at Gooch Falls; going for a hike on the Pine Ridge Trail is always a good adventure. Marion Creek usually gets a good deal of rain; December is the wettest month with most rain while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. So
many amusing things to do in the Central Cascade Range, not sufficient time. There are magnificent places to explore along the Bingham Ridge Trail.
