  The put-in location is a short drive from Corvallis, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Oregon are harder than the national norm, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. The Wren to Philomath stretch of Marys River is 10.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-II section. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. Some people prefer whitewater
    rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. You can enjoy this section
more if you take your time, so pack your sleeping bag. Marys River doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Wren to Philomath stretch is the only one. The wild scenery of the Coast Ranges is great. The campgrounds here at Marys River are pretty good. The scenic beauty of Benton County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle.

During the warm months, highs typically are in the 70's at Marys River, and through the night it cools down to the 40's. The cold days of
 
the winter come with highs in the 40's while Marys River nighttime low temperatures during the wintertime are in the 30's. Marys River is a wet spot that gets lots of rain; the month with most of the rain is December while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
