The natural beauty of Lane County and the water flowing gracefully down McKenzie River have people coming here. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Oregon are often more challenging than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The wild scenery of the Central Cascade Range is great. The Leaburg Dam to Hayden Bridge stretch of McKenzie River in Oregon is 24 miles long and is a class II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. You might be into whitewater
rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. There are no other sections to paddle along McKenzie River than the Leaburg
Dam to Hayden Bridge section. The campgrounds here at McKenzie River are pretty good. This section has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so pack your camping stuff. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The starting point is not too far from Eugene-Springfield, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page.
