CLASS II-III 40.7 miles
This is an awesome and very beautiful stretch of river with hot springs, and roman gardens as some extras on the trip... Says Tobias
The Olallie Campground to Leaburg Dam section of McKenzie River in Oregon is 40.7 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III section of whitewater. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. Now this is a pretty long section, perfect for a real wilderness adventure. Whitewater
rafting and kayaking spots in Oregon are harder than the national norm, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. The natural beauty of Oregon and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come
here and paddle. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The Central Cascade Range scenery is wonderful. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers.
Briefly about the general area: Going for a hike on the Gold Hill Trail is always a wonderful adventure.
