Riverside Forest Campground to Lake Billy Chinook section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS III-IV 28.5 miles
The put-in is not too far from Bend, as you can see on the road map further down. The Riverside Forest Campground to Lake Billy Chinook section of Metolius River in Jefferson County is 28.5 miles long and is a class III-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The beautiful Central Cascade Range scenery is an added bonus. The Riverside Forest Campground to Lake Billy Chinook section is the only paddling section along Metolius River. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book
a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The beautiful scenery of Oregon and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so why not pack your camping
stuff too. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so you'd better keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of spots for that.
