The starting point is not too far from Corvallis, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The wonderful Polk/Yamhill County scenery and the cool fresh water beats anything. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots
of paddling spots. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The Coast Ranges
scenery is wonderful. The Buell County Park to Yamhill River section of Mill Creek in Oregon is 7 miles long and it is classified as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. This is a pretty decent length section, you can easily run it on an afternoon. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the Buell County Park to Yamhill River section is one of them.
Briefly about the general area: The high level of rain makes Mill Creek a rather wet place; December is when you get the most rain here; July meanwhile is the driest month.
Summer at Mill Creek arrives with high temperatures in the 70's. For the period of the moonlight hours it's generally in the 50's. During the winter highs are generally in the 40's; after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Mill Creek dip into the 30's.
