The scenic beauty of Polk County and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. This is a pretty decent length section, it's good length for a morning trip. The Upper Bridge to Mill Creek County Park stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. If you're coming from Corvallis it's not a long drive at     all to the starting location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The wild scenery of the Coast Ranges is great. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. There's camping available near Mill Creek. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Briefly about the general area: During the warm months at Mill Creek temperatures are regularly in the 70's, and throughout summer nights temperatures are in the   50's. Highs all through the wintertime are usually in the 40's, and after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Mill Creek descend into the 30's. Mill Creek is a wet spot that gets lots of rainfall; December is the month that gets the most rain while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
