This stretch of Nehalem River is 10 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-II section. There's camping available near Nehalem River. The beautiful scenery of Columbia County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers. The beauty of the Coast Ranges is a great plus for this river. of people coming here. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Oregon tend to be more challenging than the national average, so better not forget that many runs in this state are not easy. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so why
not pack your camping stuff too. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Upper Nehalem to Vernonia section is one of them. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.

mostly in the 70's; the overnight is a little cooler of course, mostly in the 50's. High temperatures during the wintertime are normally in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 30's to Nehalem River.
