If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Oregon you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. This is the only paddling section along Roaring River. The beauty of the Central Cascade Range is a great plus for this river. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good rivers for that around here. Oregon scenery and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. The Road 4611 to Roaring River Campground stretch of Roaring River in Clackamas County is 3 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III-IV section. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away
from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This is a somewhat short section so no need to bring snacks. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp.
Briefly about the general area: At Roaring River during the summertime months highs are in the 70's, and the overnight is slightly colder of course, typically in the 50's. Daytime highs all through the wintertime are in the 40's, and nighttime lows in the 30's for Roaring River. So many exciting things in the
Central Cascade Range, just remarkable. The Fanton Plaza Trail offers hiking at its best. There's glorious hiking along the Dry Ridge Trail, and close by you hit upon The Narrows which is a good site to pop by. Roaring River is a wet location that gets lots of rain; through December this area sees the most rain, and July meanwhile is the driest month.
