Oregon whitewater - Rock Creek, Coast Ranges, Columbia County
Columbia
county,
Keasey to mouth section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS I-II(III) 12.2 miles
The nature scenery of Columbia County and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Oregon is often tougher than elsewhere, so better not forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. The Keasey to mouth section of Rock Creek
is 12.2 miles long and it is classified as a class I-II(III) section by American Whitewater. The wild scenery of the Coast Ranges is great. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Rock Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Keasey to mouth section
is the only one. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of spots for that.
