The natural beauty of Columbia County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water have people coming here. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Oregon is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so pack your camp stove.
This stretch of Rock Creek in Columbia County is 12.2 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-II(III) section. The river winds through the Coast Ranges and you get great scenery. This is the only paddling stretch along Rock Creek. Getting a good
workout and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground.

Highs all through the winter are frequently in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Rock Creek are in the 30's. Rock Creek is a quite wet place commonly with a great deal of precipitation; the month with most of the rain is December; the driest month of the year is July.
