This stretch of Salmon Creek in Lane County is 12 miles long and it is classified as a class II-V section by American Whitewater. The wonderful Lane County scenery and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Oregon tend to be more challenging than the national average, so better not forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find
a large number of good rivers. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. There are no other sections to paddle along Salmon Creek than the Top of Upper Salmon Creek Gorge to Oakridge section. If you hurry you can run this stretch
in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so why not pack your camping stuff too. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The Central Cascade Range scenery is wonderful.
Briefly about the general area: This is such a wonderful river. If the weather is fine here at Salmon Creek, you can go for a hike along the Shitepoke Trail; don't leave Salmon Creek without first checking out Baby Rock. Yeah, come up
here to the Central Cascade Range for a pleasant time. While you're here at Salmon Creek you can take a hike along the Bunchgrass Trail; the beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Salmon Falls. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Salmon Creek. For the duration of the dark hours
of summer temperatures sink down into the 50's. Daytime highs during the wintertime are in the 40's; nighttime lows through the wintertime for Salmon Creek tend to be in the 30's. The high level of rain makes Salmon Creek a pretty wet place; through the month of November you get the most rain around here, and the driest month is July.
