If you're coming from Hood River it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Oregon is often more difficult than elsewhere, so keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. This stretch of Sandy River in Oregon is 4.5 miles long and is a class IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are
lots of good rivers for that around here. The wonderful Clackamas County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Sandy River beats anything. Whitewater paddling here in the Central Cascade Range is a great experience. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can
camp. On this section you do get some distance, it's good length for a morning trip. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the McNeil Campground to Lolo Pass Road stretch is just one of them.

month of the year is mostly December, that's the one that rains the most, and July on the other hand is the driest. But wait, there's more amusing stuff to do in the Central Cascade Range. Summer at Sandy River comes with high temperatures in the 70's. When the night sets in
temperatures plunge down into the 50's. Highs all through the winter are frequently in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Sandy River are in the 30's.
