This section of Santiam River - Middle in Linn County is 2 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class IV section of whitewater. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find     the rivers here a bit more challenging, so don't forget that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The beautiful Central Cascade Range scenery is an added bonus. The put-in is not too far from Albany-Lebanon, as you can see on the road map further down. This is a pretty short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times.
