The Packsaddle Park to Mill City section of Santiam River - North in Oregon is 8 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-III+ section. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling rivers. Getting     a good workout and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. Whitewater paddling here in the Central Cascade Range is a great experience. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This is a pretty decent length section, you can easily run it on an afternoon. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the Packsaddle Park to Mill City stretch is just one of them. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp.
