If you're coming from Albany-Lebanon it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The Foster Dam to Waterloo section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. The beautiful Central Cascade Range scenery is an added bonus. The nature scenery of Oregon and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so pack your camping stuff.
