This stretch of Sharps Creek in Lane County is 7 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Oregon are often tougher than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Eugene-Springfield, as you can see on the road map further down. The wonderful Oregon scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Sharps Creek attract people from near and far. This
is a pretty decent length section, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance
because these hotels fill up quick. The beautiful Central Cascade Range scenery is an added bonus. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Sharps Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the 7 mi above Layng Ck confluence section is the only one. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came.
Briefly about the general area: Summertime highs at Sharps Creek ordinarily tend to be in the 70's with night lows in the 40's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 40's, and after
the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Sharps Creek descend into the 30's. Sharps Creek regularly gets a great deal of rainfall; during November this area sees the most rain, and the driest month of the year is July.
