The average Oregon whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots.     This section of Silver Creek in Marion County is 8 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV(V) section. The Silver Falls State Park to Silver Creek Reservoir stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. This is a pretty decent length section, it's perfect for a one day trip. Briefly about the general area: The yearly rainfall here at Silver Creek is about average; December is when you get the most rain here, and the driest month is July. Summertime brings highs in the   70's to Silver Creek. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 50's.
