The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. The beauty of the Coast Ranges is a great plus for this river. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Not too many hotels     nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. There are no other stretches to paddle along Siuslaw River than the Lake Creek to Close to Mapleton stretch. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of spots for that. The scenic beauty of Lane County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. Briefly about the general area: During the months of summer highs here at Siuslaw River get into the 60's with night lows in the 40's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 50's; nighttime lows in the 30's for Siuslaw River. Lots of precipitation falls at Siuslaw River;   through December this area sees the most rain, and the driest month of the year is July. A delightful site to go to in the neighborhood of Siuslaw River is Rock Canyon.
