The Steamboat Falls to Canton Creek Campground stretch of Steamboat Creek in Douglas County is 6 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class IV section of whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Oregon are harder than the national norm, so you'd better keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, suitable for an afternoon trip. And of course,
there are campgrounds nearby. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The natural beauty of Oregon and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here
and paddle. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the Steamboat Falls to Canton Creek Campground section is one of them. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here. Whitewater paddling here in the Central Cascade Range is a great experience.

Daytime highs during the wintertime are in the 40's, and after the sun is down all through the wintertime temperatures at Steamboat Creek sink into the 30's. If you're here, you might as well stop at Black Gorge, and Little Falls is a good local attraction.
