The Confluence of North and South Umpqua to Scottsburg stretch of Umpqua River in Douglas County is 84 miles long and it is classified as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. The nature scenery of Douglas County and the water flowing gracefully down Umpqua River beats anything. The average Oregon whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. Whitewater paddling here in the Coast Ranges
is a great experience. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are not so many other good places for that around here. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. Now this is a pretty long section, so make sure you
pack enough food along with your camping gear. The put-in location is a short drive from Roseburg, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the Confluence of North and South Umpqua to Scottsburg section is one of them. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The campgrounds here at Umpqua River are pretty good.

For the period of the winter this place gets highs in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Umpqua River are in the 30's.
