The Confluence of North and South Umpqua to Scottsburg stretch of Umpqua River in Douglas County is 84 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-II section. A stretch this long is of course too much for a one day trip, perfect for a real wilderness adventure. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're not from around
here don't forget that rivers here are less forgiving. The wonderful Oregon scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water have people coming here. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are
not so many other good spots for that around here. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Confluence of North and South Umpqua to Scottsburg section is one of them. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The beautiful Coast Ranges scenery is an added bonus. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more.
