CLASS II-III 2.3 miles

The Sawyers Rapids stretch of Umpqua River is 2.3 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III section. The wonderful Oregon scenery and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. This is a pretty short section so no need to bring snacks. The put-in location is a
reasonable drive from Roseburg, as you can see on the road map further down. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you won't find many other paddling spots. The
Sawyers Rapids stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set.
