The natural beauty of Oregon and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good rivers for that around here. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. The Soda Springs to Deadline Falls stretch of Umpqua River - North in Douglas County is 25.5 miles long and it is classified as a class III section by American Whitewater. The campgrounds here at Umpqua River - North are pretty good. If you've been
whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Oregon you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're not from around here don't forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you
come because it is a very popular destination. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. The beautiful Central Cascade Range scenery is an added bonus. You can enjoy this section more if you take your time, so why not pack your camping stuff too.
Briefly about the general area: A good deal of rain falls at Umpqua River - North; most of the rain falls through November while July is generally the driest month. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Umpqua River - North. Throughout
the moonlight hours it's usually in the 40's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 40's, and after the sun is down all through the winter temperatures at Umpqua River - North descend into the 30's. So many exciting things to do in the Central Cascade Range, not enough
time. The Mott Trail is a glorious hiking trail in the neighborhood of Umpqua River - North. A short journey to Winslow Cabin Spring is always worthwhile; close by you come across the Panther Trail which is a wonderful hiking trail.
