The Idleyld Park to confluence with South Umpqua stretch of Umpqua River - North is 34.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II(III) section. The natural beauty of Oregon and the water flowing gracefully down Umpqua River - North are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The put-in is not too far from Roseburg, as you can see on the road map further down. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this
state are not easy. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are not so many other good rivers
for that around here. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. Now this is a pretty long section, perfect for a real wilderness adventure. The beauty of the Coast Ranges is a great plus for this river. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp.
