The average Oregon whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. The wonderful Douglas County scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water attract people from near and far. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of places for that. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great
campgrounds nearby. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. The Three C Rocks to MP 22 section of Umpqua River - South in Douglas County is 8.5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-IV section
of whitewater. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Medford, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, suitable for an afternoon trip. When you're paddling down a Southern Cascade Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too.
