If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable. The starting location is a short drive from Roseburg, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The Canyonville Park to Lawson Bar section of Umpqua River - South is 5 miles long and is a class II-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. No shortage of good hotels, but do book a room
before you come because it is a very popular destination. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. Whitewater paddling here in the Coast Ranges is a great experience. The wonderful Douglas County scenery and the water
flowing gracefully down Umpqua River - South attract people from near and far. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, good for a one day paddling trip. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with not too many other places for that.
