This section of White River in Wasco County is 6 miles long and it is classified as a class III-IV section by American Whitewater. If you're coming from Hood River it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so better not forget that many runs in this state are not easy. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the
night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The beautiful Central Cascade Range scenery is an added bonus.
The scenic beauty of Wasco County and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for that around here. This stretch is mid length, good for a one day paddling trip. The Barlow Crossing to Keeps Mill section is one of many paddling sections in this river system.
Briefly about the general area: At this river you will never have a bad time. Have a tremendous hiking adventure along the Swamp Creek Hidden Meadows Trail, and the beauty of mother nature reveals
herself at Faith Spring. The warmest time of the year at White River arrives with high temperatures in the 60's. Summer overnight lows plunge down to the 40's. All through the winter this place gets highs in the 30's while White River night low temperatures during the wintertime
are in the 20's. All year is a great time in the Central Cascade Range if you have a thing about the outdoors. Take a hike on the Rimrock Trail; Charity Spring is an inspiring site to stop by while here. White River gets lots of water; the month with most of the snow is December; the driest of the months is July.
