The put-in location is a short drive from City of The Dalles, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Oregon tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. The beauty of the Central Cascade Range
is a great plus for this river. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. A good workout and spending some quality time
in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. This section of White River is 12 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III-IV section. The wonderful Oregon scenery and the water flowing gracefully down White River beats anything. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of spots for that.
Briefly about the general area: White River is a quite wet place typically with lots of rainfall; the wettest month of the year is typically December, that's the one that snows the
most, and July is the month with the least moisture. Going for a hike along the Little Badger Creek Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this region, and North Fork Hazel Hollow is another good spot to check out nearby. For the period of the summertime months at
White River temperatures are regularly in the 60's. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 40's. Highs through the wintertime are frequently in the 30's while the cold winter nights at White River are in the 20's. Life's too short to enjoy all the exciting stuff in the Central Cascade Range.
