The average Oregon whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so better not forget that rivers here are less forgiving. The wonderful Oregon scenery and the water flowing gracefully down White River beats anything. This section of White River in Wasco County is 12 miles long and is a class III-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled
as well. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so why not pack your camp stove too. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater
rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of spots for that. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The beauty of the Central Cascade Range is a great plus for this river. The starting location is a short drive from City of The Dalles, as you can see on the road map further down.
Briefly about the general area: White River mostly gets lots of rainfall; the wettest month of the year is ordinarily December, that's the one that snows the most while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
Going for a hike along the Little Badger Creek Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this neighborhood; North Fork Hazel Hollow is a magnificent site to stop at. For the period of the warmest time of the year at White River temperatures are frequently in the 60's.
Once the sun is down it dips down to the 40's. Through the winter highs are in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 20's to White River. These mountains rock, just look at all the entertaining things to do in the Central Cascade Range. Don't leave White River without first paying a visit to Washburn Spring.
