The put-in location is a reasonable drive from City of The Dalles, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The wonderful Oregon scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great. The Keeps Mill to Victor Road Bridge stretch of White River is 12 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III-IV section. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Whether you're whitewater
rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good places. The average Oregon whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so better not forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. Getting a good
workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The Central Cascade Range scenery is wonderful. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Keeps Mill to Victor Road Bridge section is just one of them. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so pack your camping stuff.
Briefly about the general area: High temperatures at White River during the months of summer are in the 60's. Throughout the moonlight
hours it's generally in the 40's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 30's, and nighttime lows at White River through the wintertime commonly sink into the 20's. It's always great to stop by Washburn Spring, and North Fork Hazel Hollow is in close proximity, and is a wonderful
spot. White River sees pretty high levels of rain; December is when you get the most snow here while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. If you go for the outdoors you'll go for it here in the Central Cascade Range. Don't leave White River without first going for a hike along the Little Badger Creek Trail.
