The natural beauty of Oregon and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. The starting location is a reasonable drive from City of The Dalles, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either
way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. The wild scenery of the Central Cascade Range is great. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so pack your camping stuff. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. There aren’t any hotels
right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This section of White River is 11.3 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more.
Briefly about the general area: A fine place to visit in the neighborhood of White River is Pine Hollow, and you're sure to stumble upon some fine folks from City of The Dalles
here. You truly have to fancy the Central Cascade Range. It is very dried out here at White River generally; December is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest month is July. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to White River. For the duration of
the moonlight hours it's ordinarily in the 40's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 40's, and after the sun is down all through the winter temperatures at White River descend into the 20's.
