The Victor Road Bridge to Tygh Valley stretch of White River in Wasco County is 11.3 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III section of whitewater. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from City of The Dalles, as you can see on the road map further down. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. The wild scenery of the Central Cascade Range is great. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. The rivers for whitewater
rafting and kayaking here in Oregon are often tougher than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This is not the only paddling section in this river system,
there are others too. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The beautiful scenery of Oregon and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots.
Briefly about the general area: Summertime brings highs in the 80's to White River. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 40's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's with
winter lows in the 20's overnight here at White River. If you yearn for a little side tour, try Pine Hollow, and White River is not far at all from City of The Dalles. So many cool things in the Central Cascade Range, just tremendous. At White River you don’t see much rain; December is the wettest month with most rain while July is typically the driest month.
