CLASS V 0.25 miles
The Celestial Falls stretch of White River is 0.25 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class V section. If you're coming from City of The Dalles it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Oregon is often more difficult than elsewhere, so keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve
in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The scenic beauty of Oregon and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. This is a very short stretch so you'll
have to walk back to the start over and over. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots.
Briefly about the general area: If you're here, you might as well stop at Tygh Valley, and White River is a spot with many visitors from City of The Dalles. White River gets very little rain; most of the rain falls all through December, and the driest month of the year is July.
