If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so better not forget that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from City of The Dalles, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. The Celestial Falls stretch of White River is 0.25 miles long and is a class V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. This is
one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. This stretch is very short so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. The natural beauty of Oregon and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. There
aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The campgrounds here at White River are pretty good. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers for that.
Briefly about the general area: Tygh Valley is near White River and is definitely a tremendous place to explore, and if you're visiting from City of The Dalles, you won't be the only one. Not much precipitation falls here at White River;
the month of December is the wettest with most of the rain, and July on the other hand is the driest. During the warmest time of the year here at White River, high temperatures usually get into the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures sink down into the 40's. High temperatures throughout the wintertime are normally in the 40's while the cold winter nights at White River are in the 20's.
