Alton Baker Park to Peoria Boat Landing section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS I 36 miles
The natural beauty of Lane County and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. The Alton Baker Park to Peoria Boat Landing section of Willamette River in Lane County is 36 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I section of whitewater. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. If you're coming from Eugene-Springfield it's not a long drive at all
to the starting location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. This
is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. A section like this is is of course not run in a single day, so make sure you pack enough food along with your camping gear. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near.
