Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Oregon is often more difficult than elsewhere, so don't forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. This stretch of Willamette River is 36 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I section of whitewater. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you     don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of places for that. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Alton Baker Park to Peoria Boat Landing stretch is one of them. A section like this is is of course not run in a single day, so better bring your camping gear along. The starting location is a short drive from Eugene-Springfield, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Briefly about the general area: Willamette River sees pretty high levels of rain; the month with most of the rain is December, and the driest of the months is July. Willamette River is in the vicinity of Horseshoe Bar which is without doubt worth a   visit, and some attention-grabbing geology is available here, Harpers Bend is right here. Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Willamette River. All through the moonlight hours it's frequently in the 50's.
