If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Oregon you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. This stretch is short so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. The wonderful Oregon scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water have people coming
here. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. There are no other sections to paddle along Zigzag River than the Tollgate to Sandy River section. The beautiful Central Cascade Range scenery is an added bonus. A good workout and just hanging out with mother
nature have a lot of people coming here. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good spots for that around here. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Hood River, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. There are nice comfortable hotels here, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination.
