The Lick Run to Pine Creek stretch of Babb Creek in Pennsylvania is 13.7 miles long and it is classified as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. The starting location is a short drive from Williamsport, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby.
Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. You can enjoy this section more if you take your time, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t
have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The Lick Run to Pine Creek section is the only paddling section along Babb Creek. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good rivers for that around here. The beautiful scenery of Pennsylvania and the water flowing gracefully down Babb Creek attract people from near and far.
Briefly about the general area: Near Babb Creek you find the Tannery Hill Trail which is a magnificent hiking trail, and Devils Elbow is an exciting thing to see if you're here. All through
the days of summer here at Babb Creek, high temperatures typically reach the 70's; during summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Throughout the winter highs are regularly in the 20's while Babb Creek night low temperatures throughout the wintertime are in the 10's. From
a rainfall point of view Babb Creek is a reasonably typical site; the month of June is the wettest with most of the rain, and January on the other hand is the driest. If you yearn for a little side trip, try Slide Hollow, and the Williams Trail is a nice hiking trail close by. This is such a fun river. Head up to Ski Sawmill and strap some skis to your feet.
