The put-in is not too far from Hagerstown-Martinsburg, as you can see on the road map further down. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. The beautiful scenery of Pennsylvania and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This is the only paddling stretch |

An average amount of rain falls at Big Cove Creek; the month with most of the rain is May, and January on the other hand is the driest. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Big Cove Creek. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 50's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 30's; night lows at Big Cove Creek through the winter typically descend into the 10's.
