If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Pennsylvania you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so you'd better keep in mind that many runs in this state are very easy. The scenic beauty of Wyoming County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream will make you feel great. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Scranton—Wilkes-Barre, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. you'll find a large number of good rivers. The campgrounds here at Bowman Creek are pretty good. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so pack your camping stuff. Bowman Creek doesn't
have a lot of paddling sections, the Pennsylvania Route 309 to Susquehanna River section is the only one. This stretch of Bowman Creek in Pennsylvania is 10.2 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-II section. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set.
