The Pennsylvania 340 to Mortonville section of Brandywine Creek - West Branch is 6.6 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III section. The put-in is not too far from Reading, as you can see on the road map further down. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are
less demanding. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Getting
some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, you can easily run it on an afternoon.
