The wonderful Chester County scenery and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Pennsylvania are often more forgiving than in other states, so keep in mind that many runs in this state are very easy. There's camping available near Buck Run. This is the only paddling section along Buck Run. The Doe Run Church Road to Brandywine Confluence stretch of Buck Run in Pennsylvania is 4 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II section. This
stretch has has enough mileage, good for a one day paddling trip. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling places.
If you're coming from Reading it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down.
Briefly about the general area: Through the months of summer at Buck Run temperatures are mostly in the 80's. Once the sun is down it sinks down to the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's; winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Buck Run. The high level of precipitation makes Buck Run a relatively wet spot; during July this area sees the most rain; the driest month is February.
