Pennsylvania whitewater - Bush Kill Creek, Pike/Monroe County Pike/Monroe county, Pickeral Lake to Bushkill section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS I-IV     25 miles   The Pickeral Lake to Bushkill stretch of Bush Kill Creek is 25 miles long and has been rated as a class I-IV section by American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Pennsylvania is often easier than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good places. There     are no other sections to paddle along Bush Kill Creek than the Pickeral Lake to Bushkill section. The starting location is a short drive from East Stroudsburg, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so pack your sleeping bag. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The natural beauty of Pike/Monroe County and the water flowing gracefully down Bush Kill Creek make the trip here worthwhile. Briefly about the general area: Summertime brings highs in the 70's to Bush Kill Creek. Throughout the moonlight hours it's frequently in the 50's. For the duration of the winter highs are usually in the 30's, and after the sun is   down during the wintertime temperatures at Bush Kill Creek fall into the 10's. All the water falling down from the sky makes Bush Kill Creek a wet place; the month with most of the rain is May, and February is when it's the driest. Take a hike on the Bald Barren Trail, and hiking along the Flat Ridge Trail is perfect fun.
